Walter Swennen

Posture Editions is very pleased to announce Posture Pockets N° 6 what the body can do with works by Walter Swennen, containing forty paintings and gouaches created between 2018 and 2022.
what the body can do comprises a series of works that were made to try out certain colour combinations, layers, gestures brush movements, and other ‘preparatory’ activities for his paintings. When Swennen came across them later, he noticed that some of the test sheets needed only minor changes or additions before resulting into a ‘finished work’. The book includes a text by British visual artist and writer Tom Mason (EN), who has been actively following Walters’s work for 15 years. Walter Swennen himself adds some thoughts (FR/EN).
The book launch will take place at WIELS Brussels on 15 February 2025 at 3 pm. Introduction by Dirk Snauwaert. With a musical performance by Casimir Liberski (piano) and Ferdinand Lezaire (drums). After the performance, signed copies by the artist will be available for purchase.
