Walter Swennen in S’Exposer
17 June—23 September 2023
Group exhibition at Centre d'Art Contemporain D'Anglet, France
An exhibition of paintings, from the 1960s to the present day, from a particular collection from the Southwest.
The Centre d'Art Contemporain D'Anglet opens its doors to a particular collection from the Southwest. Gathering a selection of eclectic works, the exhibition testifies to the story, lived as a romantic relationship, which led this art lover to build his collection free from any subjection to the spirit of the times, simply guided by envy, desire, passion and need for possession.
The exercise may seem bold because, for the collector, exposing oneself is taking a risk, accepting to discover oneself, to show oneself, to reveal an intimate part of oneself. It is also, as in this case, to summon emotions, impulses, sensuality and sexuality. A bias of which this exhibition gives an overview. Through the nineteen paintings exhibited here, works by sixteen contemporary artists, are represented different major pictorial movements in France and the United States, from the 1960s to the present day.
