Roni Horn
Pair Field, a new installation
De Pont, Tilburg, Netherlands
opening 29 March 2025
On 29 March 2025, De Pont museum will open a new collection presentation featuring works by American artist Roni Horn (b.1955). The exhibition Pair Field is composed entirely of works from its own collection, in line with De Pont's exhibition and collection policy, which focuses on a relatively small group of artists and on collecting in depth.

At the centre is a new interpretation of the installation Pair Field, which was first shown during the museum's opening in 1992. Roni Horn will come to Tilburg in March 2025 to unleash a new vision on the work and install it in the impressive main hall of the former factory building. Other iconic works by Horn, such as the 100-part photo series You are the Weather, can be seen in the other galleries.
Pair Field (1991) consists of eighteen pairs of sculptures in solid copper and steel. Although each pair has unique forms, the rounded contours are similar in volume. The minimalist work combines kinship with enigma, exploring themes of connection, isolation and materiality. The photo series You are the Weather (1994-1996) shows 100 portraits of a young woman in Iceland. Subtle changes in facial expression and in light make the work contemplative and intimate, focusing on themes of identity, subjectivity and the power of looking.
