This group exhibition highlights the emerging contemporary Chinese art scene, showcasing the works of twenty-one artists, whose subjective portraits are being presented in France for the first time. The exhibition explores a wide range of themes, including globalization, the environmental crisis, and the transformation of lifestyles in Chinese society—subjects that resonate deeply within the work of this young generation of artists, born between the late 1970s and early 1990s, a period marked by rapid economic growth.

Guided by the Chinese character 目 (mù), which signifies "eye"—both as a means of seeing and organising reality—the rich selection curated by the Franco-Chinese team spans a diverse range of practices, including video, painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and new media. It focuses on recent works that have had limited exposure outside China due to the global post-Covid situation. During this period, however, the Centre Pompidou, through its partnership with the West Bund Museum Project in Shanghai, has strengthened its ties with this dynamic art scene.
