A major monographic exhibition of an artist who has written the history of Italian art through poetic, abstract and performative painting, where gesture and sign transport the public into an experience suspended outside of time. With more than 50 years of painting, Giorgio Griffa (Turin, 29 March 1936) counts three Venice Biennials (in 1978, 1980 and 2017) and more than 200 solo exhibitions in museums and institutions all over the world, including those organised by Ida Giannelli in the 1970s and 1980s at SamanGallery in Genoa.

The works exhibited in the Doge's Apartment will enter into dialogue with the history and architecture of the building, presenting large canvases, works on paper and installations, including a tribute to Montale which celebrates the 100th anniversary of ‘Ossi di seppia’.
