Daniel Buren Comme tombées du ciel, les couleurs in situ et en mouvement
Unveiling 15 October 2022
at Liège-Guillemins railway station, Belgium
Unveiling of Daniel Buren's monumental installation at Liège-Guillemins railway station, Saturday 15 October.
A veritable cathedral of light, the station was designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava in 2009. Inspired by the architectural feat, Buren created his new site-specific work, Comme tombées du ciel, les couleurs in situ et en mouvement, which railway travellers can experience for the next year. Installed in a checkered pattern, the work leaves parts of the sky visible, creating a relationship with light that is very important for the artist. Depending on the weather, the time of day, the quality of light and the season, the intensity of the diffused colour changes and envelops different architectural elements.
